The Beginning of The End of The Blog

November 13, 2017

December 8th marks the 10th birthday of this blog, my blog.

I’ve decided it will also be the last official day of posting.

After a full decade of writing, it’s time for this chapter to come to an end.

Why?

Because 10 years is an amount of time that makes me incredibly proud.

Because new creative projects have become important to me, like focusing more attention on Sunday Night Sex Talks.

Because I’ve been writing in a certain way with a certain voice for a very long time, and I’m ready to spend time writing in a different format.

Because – and this is a hard one – this blog is not going to be the kind of project that earns me a million Twitter followers and a book deal. It’s never been that kind of site.

Because I want to stop before I’m really sick of it.

Because it’s okay for things to end. It’s okay to say, I’m done. I’m moving on. I can detach. I can say goodbye.

I’ve written at length about what this blog has done for me and meant to me. I’ll collect all of those in a post soon, but it’s not exaggerating to say that this www and the Blogger-turned-Wordpress interface behind it changed my life. It gave me the career of my wildest dreams. That’s why when I filed to incorporate my own company to manage my film and television writing I named it 20-Nothings Inc. And why the name was available.

So I’m going to spend the next month printing out every single one of the 1,133 (now 4) posts I’ve written. They’ll go in a box in case the world and/or Internet ends. I might even put together a final book of my favorites, maybe just for myself. I’ll also be writing a few posts that I’ve always meant to write and sharing a few tips for all the future bloggers out there – tip #1 being, do it.

And, of course, 20-Nothings.com will still exist online, just in case I need to share exciting news or complain about something.

December 8th is going to be a bittersweet day for me, but I’m gearing up to focus on the sweet. I booked myself a massage, and I’m taking myself out to a really fabulous dinner (I told R he could come, too).

And I’m going to try really, really hard not to spend the entire day thinking about what brand new blog I’m going to start…

If there’s any topic you’d like covered before the big 12/8 date, please let me know at 20Nothings@gmail.com.
